Synaptic adjustment of inversion loops in Neurospora crassa.
نویسنده
چکیده
Heterozygotes for three long inversions on chromosome 1 were analyzed by serial reconstruction from electron micrographs. Measurements of loop lengths at different meiotic prophase substages revealed that the homologous synapsis of the inverted region was gradually replaced by nonhomologous synapsis as loops were eliminated during pachytene. This synaptic adjustment was apparently not affected by crossovers which occurred within the 150- and 160-cM long loops.

Biotransformation of Hydrocortisone by Neurospora crassa
The ability of Neurospora crassa FGSC 4335 in the biotransformation of hydrocortisone was investigated. The microorganism produced two major metabolites after incubation with the substrate for seven days. Each microbial product was purified chromatographically and identified on the basis of spectral data. The products were identified as 11?,17?,20?,21-tetrahydroxypregn-4-en-3-one (II) and 11?-h...
متن کاملMOLECULAR ANALYSIS OF THE SULFUR REGULATORY CIRCUIT OF NEUROSPORA CRASSA
The sulfur regulatory circuit of the filamentous fungus, Neurospora crassa, consists of a set of unlinked structural genes which encode sulfur catabolic and two major regulatory genes which govern their expression. The cys-3 regulatory gene encode a transacting regulatory protein which activates the expression of cys-14 and ars, whereas the other regulatory genes Scon-l and Scon-2 appear to...
متن کاملA phenylalanine tRNA gene from Neurospora crassa: conservation of secondary structure involving an intervening sequence.
We have isolated and sequenced a tRNAPhe gene from Neurospora crassa. Hybridization analyses suggest that trnaPhe is the only tRNA encoded on the cloned 5 kb DNA fragment. The tRNAPhe gene contains an intervening sequence 16 nucleotides in length located one nucleotide 3' to the anticodon position. The tRNAPhe coding region of Neurospora and yeast are 91% conserved, whereas their intervening se...
متن کاملEpigenetic and Posttranslational Modifications in Light Signal Transduction and the Circadian Clock in Neurospora crassa
Blue light, a key abiotic signal, regulates a wide variety of physiological processes in many organisms. One of these phenomena is the circadian rhythm presents in organisms sensitive to the phase-setting effects of blue light and under control of the daily alternation of light and dark. Circadian clocks consist of autoregulatory alternating negative and positive feedback loops intimately conne...
متن کاملCollection and Curation of Transcriptional Regulatory Interactions in Aspergillus nidulans and Neurospora crassa Reveal Structural and Evolutionary Features of the Regulatory Networks
Transcriptional regulation has important roles in various biological processes (e.g., development and metabolism) in filamentous fungi. However, regulatory interactions between transcription factors (TFs) and their target genes in these species have only been described in different forms by primary scientific literature, which limits the integrated analysis of these data. Here, we extensively c...
